Utah is the second driest state in the union! When it's growing season (May to October) our beloved plants, flowers, and vegetables need enough water not only to survive, but to thrive.
Like any other system, sprinklers need maintenance and repair work on a yearly basis. Our crews are experts in everything sprinkler!
This is, by far, the most common issue we encounter with sprinkler systems. The clue that you have a broken sprinkler head is that a patch of grass around the head will start to brown after a couple of insufficient waterings. The fix usually requires the sprinkler head to be dug up, removed, and replaced. In some cases only a component of the head needs to be replaced.
The problems that a broken sprinkler head cause is twofold: reduction in water pressure to the rest of the zone, and loss of proper coverage around the broken head.
Heads can be damaged in a variety of ways. Most often, by foot traffic and by lawn equipment coming in contact with the heads. Occasionally, damage can be a result of age and fatigued material.
The sprinkler valve is the device that directs water to a specific watering zone according to the sprinkler clock or timer. Electric Sprinkler valves have a few moving parts and all must be in good working order for the valve to do its job.
The clue, to you, that you have an issue with a valve is that when the sprinkler timer turns on a zone, the sprinklers in that zone do not turn on at all. Now, the issue may not always be with the valve, but that is the first place for us to check.
Like a broken head, valve issues cause dry grass. But unlike a broken head, you will notice a large area drying out. These issues need attention quickly!
A broken sprinkler line can be very difficult to diagnose and to fix. We have found some sprinkler lines buried over 6 feet deep!
There are several clues you may have a broken sprinkler line: pooling water, even when sprinklers are not running, dry spots caused by sprinklers not having the proper pressure for full coverage, or soggy grass at all times.
Utah sprinkler systems need special attention because of our very hot, dry summers and cold, hard-freezing winters. All water in the lines must be drained before the temperatures get too cold. Any water left in the system will freeze, and expand, and can cause sprinkler lines to crack and even break.
Wherever a line breakage occurs, our teams are fully equipped to diagnose and make necessary repairs.
That's all it takes to get rolling! One call to our office can get us the details we need about your sprinkler issue and get our teams scheduled to visit your yard. Often, it's difficult to know how long an issue will take to diagnose and resolve. We will quote you a minimum price and the rest will be decided as our team works to remedy your sprinkler issue.
Our goal is to make every Utah lawn green and beautiful! And we've been at it, one day at a time, for almost 50 years.
